I overheard this conversation ...

Feb. 11, 2007 - I overheard the conversation ...
of a young mom of a 6 yr old this morning ... she was pleading for obedience(pleeeeeze do as Mommy said and sit down) ... then bargaining for obedience(if you will sit down we'll go to McDonalds for lunch) ...
this is the same woman I've heard make comments like this ... if God will just ___________, then I will _________, I promise.
Why do we not get the connection between what we teach our children about our Heavenly Father and the way that we parent them. If they see a disconnected father ... they expect a disconnected Father ... if they see a bargaining parent ... they expect a bargaining God ... if parents give instructions 20 times before obedience is required, they expect God to repeat Himself until they feel like obeying ... or more likely, until He stops requesting ...
is it any wonder that this child thinks he's an adult ... and that adults are stupid?
