stop, thief!

May. 29, 2007 - Stop, Thief!!!!!
i decided to take the list that queenofthehill created and jump!!! I've not traveled much comparatively speaking. I become much more attached to the
1. Hardest place to leave ... Hunting Island State Park, Beufort, South Carolina ... it's the most amazing beach I've ever been to, no hustle of a tourist trap, no snobbishness of a resort ... just the ocean and the ability to sit for hours and listen to the waves wash your soul clean.
Easiest Place to leave ... The Badlands ... for whatever reason the entire experience made me nervous. It could have easily been fear from watching Randy chase buffalo around shouting "tatonka" ... you know, like Kevin Costner in Dances With Wolves. Or watching him wander with AJ into territory marked with BEWARE signs ... it was so easy to leave.
2. Most Surreal Place... Tijuana, Mexico
3. Most Unique Place ... New Orleans, the French Quarter
4. Scariest Place/Situation ... a homeless woman threatened to shoot us in New Orleans.
5. Place I Could Totally Live In ... Charleston, South Carolina
6. Place I Want to Return to Most Often ... Hunting Island, South Carolina
7. Worst/Best Hotel
Worst Hotel ... oh my, we've been poor in our early married life and there were some places where we slept with out clothes on, including coat to keep warm ... on top of the covers.
Best (read fanciest/most expensive)Hotel ... Hyatt Regency in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana or The Page House in Dublin, Georgia ... we're campers, not much on hotels
Best Camping ... Hunting Island State Park, SC ... French Creek State Park, PA ... McCormick's Creek State Park, IN ... Chadwick State Park, MO ... Indian Boundary, Tellico Plains, TN
8. Worst Food-borne illnesses ... I do think I managed a case of food poisoning during our trip to PA. I was doing fine until I decided to lie down in the hammock for a few moments, just to relax ... I never really thought about the inability to be still in a hammock until that very moment. It was ugly ... especially for the family of 5 parked behind us. There's not much worse than stomach yuck while you are camping ... okay, there are a couple of things, but I'll leave it at that.
