It's funny the things we'll do because we love someone ...

Apr. 18, 2006 - Isn't it funny the things we'll do because we love someone??
My niece Tisha will turn 17 in May. She was the first baby I had ever really 'met' before! And, it was love at first sight! Actually, the love relationship started much earlier than that. My sister was pregnant during my senior year of college and I would call her every other day and make her hold the phone to her tummy so I could talk to "George" ... remember the old cartoon, " I will Love him and hug him and squeeze him and call him George..."! She and I have always been close! I thought I would lose my mind when I couldn't be there when she was born ... she was born exactly three days after I graduated from college, I had an internship I had to complete in Nashville at the Children's home and I finished at 5pm on Friday , June 9 and made a flying trip home. I held her all night that night. I would drive home several times that summer just to see her. I had a job that fall and would require me to work until 2pm on Fridays ... I often traveled home to see her! I spent ooddles of money on sweet little Christmas dresses, Easter dresses, summer outfits! My arrival was anticipated and the excitement was always there! Until she was 4, she would often throw up within the first hour of my arrival because she was so excited for me to get home ... a strange reaction, but exactly what we all came to expect! I was overjoyed when my sister and brother in law moved here. They have 3 other children and we are all very close! Well, there have been a few boys since then, some hurt feelings, some growing pains, differing opinions and life choices- I adore her still! ... she's a beautiful young woman and on Sunday, she offered to cut my hair!!! She's taking classes in cosmotology in high school ... I'm so vain about my hair that I will let it grow long and stringy before I'll go to somewhere like Walmart to have it cut cheap. But I couldn't resist her offer ... just because it was her. So, what was to be an inch off the bottom, is now a bob above my shoulders! For this child I would do anything! She taught me how to love well ... and AJ had a better mama because of it. So, if you see me at Monday Fun ... don't make fun!
