Another Saturday on the books

May. 20, 2006 - Another Saturday on the books!
And a beautiful day it was! A partly sunny day at the ball park ... breeze blowing ... honeysuckle in full bloom ... faces shining with the promise of summer days just ahead. I was so aware this morning of the blessings of living in a part of the country where we get a concrete reminder of the wonder of the seasons God has provided for us! The past couple of weeks have been cooler than most Mays I recall in East Tn ... it seemed like a very long blackberry winter! I wonder if a longer cold snap means more blackberries!

Which would mean more blackberry preserves, blackberry cobbler and blackberry muffins! All of which smack of summer just in the saying! But today ... today was warm and invited you into its presence from the beginning. And just as we were all drawn into the moment, the skies opened up and delivered a late spring downpour! And hail to boot! I can't help but be facinated by weather and it's power. We all know that rain has to stop somewhere, but when you round a corner and see that the weather was drastically different just feet away from real turmoil ... it's startling! It causes me to pause and remember just how little control I really have! Remembering that though I couldn't see around the corner to the calmer surroundings, God could. What a parallel we can draw about our daily lives and the reality that though we can not see what the future holds-He can!
